Excitingly, the Verona Area School District is pleased to invite our families, staff and the entire community to our Continuous Improvement Gallery Walk…an event showcasing the continuous improvement process unveiling at each of our district’s sites! Mark your calendar for Monday, Nov. 6 at the Country View Elementary gymnasium, 6pm-7pm, 710 Lone Pine Way, Verona.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a structured gallery walk around the gym to hear a brief summary from each school on the goals of their 2017-2018 school year.

For nearly 25 years, the Verona Area School District operated under a site-based governance model (each site had a “site council”) when it was much smaller and state / federal requirements and reporting were not so numerous. That model worked well for a while but lead to many inconsistencies across the district. Over the last year, the Board, mostly through the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Committee, has been working with administration and district-wide staff on changing that form of governance to a continuous improvement team model. This model brings in every certified staff member to play a role on their Continuous Improvement Team, which advises the site administrator on resource allocations, programming needs, building goals and more!

We, as a district, have to be accountable for providing students with similar / equitable academic experiences that do not vary widely across the district.  Finding the balance between site autonomy and district accountability is tricky but we are anxious to share the schools’ continuous improvement plans with our staff, families and the community!

Hope to see you on Nov. 6!
